こんちには。

charatbeatHDXではWASAPIの排他モードを使用していますが、この排他モードは
ハードウェアがサポートしているフォーマットでのみ使用することが出来ます。

charatbeatHDXはビットレートの変更には対応していますが、ビット数は常に16bitに固定されています。
このため、16bitに対応していないハードウェアでは使用することが出来ません。

ちなみにDirectSoundやWASAPI共有モードの場合、OSに組み込まれたソフトウェアミキサーにより、
OSの音や各アプリケーションの音がミキシングされて再生されます。
また、ソフトウェアミキサーが自動的にハードウェアに合ったフォーマットに変換しているため、
結果的にどのようなフォーマットでも再生することが出来るようになっています。(ただし遅延が多い)

Scarlett 6i6のWDMドライバは16bitが選択出来るようですが、これは共有モードの設定となります。
そのため、ソフトウェアミキサーにより最終的に24bitに変換されている可能性があります。
しかし、排他モードではハードウェアに合わせたフォーマットでなければならず、
24bitに対応していないcharatbeatHDXでは初期化に失敗してしまいます。

他の方法としては、foobar2000などのWASAPI対応のプレイヤーにて、
16bitのWAVEファイルが再生が出来るか確認してみるとよいかもしれません。

他のサイトを調べてみても、Scarlett 6i6とWASAPIに関する情報を見つけることは出来ませんでしたので、
詳しいことはメーカーに問い合わせた方がよいと思います。
